Book Review

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
A Christmas Carol
*

The theme of the story is about a man who absolutly hates Christmas time and everything about it. No one likes him because he is so mean to everyone. The authors purpose for writing the book was to entertain people with a mixture of humor, suspense, and maybe to teach a lesson about treating people how you want to be treated, I didn't really care for the book. I thought it was kinda boring.

The author of the book is Charles Dickens. The book was written arounf the 1850's. The book starts off with Scrooge veryifying Marley's body. Then, the book fast-forwards to Christmas Eve seven years later. At Scrooge's home, the Ghost of Jacob Marley comes to visit him. The ghost of Jacob Marley tells Scrooge that three ghosts will come to visit him. The first ghost, the Ghost of Christmas Past, takes Scrooge back into the past to happier days when he was younger. The second ghost, the Ghost of Christmas Present, takes Scrooge around to show him what the present Christmas holds for the people in Scrooge's life. He shows Scrooge the Cratchit family and they are poor but still enjoy their life. The third ghost, the Ghost of Christmas yet to come, shows Scrooge what will happen if he doesn't change. The next morning, Scrooge wakes up in his own bed. It was Christmas morning. He orders the prize turkey for the Chratchits. The Lesson that Scrooge learned was to love and care for other people. It also taught him to be thankful for what he has.

To some people, it might have acheived the goal. It might be entertaining to some people, but i didn't like it. My evaluation of the book is that it was stupid. I didn't like it. I didn't understand alot of the words because their from the 1800's.
